TRAVEL ITINERARY

DAY1
Shimla

We start our journey by sightseeing in Shimla. A stroll in famous Mall Road and Ridge area is on the cards. As we view the church, Lakkar bazaar, Scandal Point and city market we experience the history of India during Colonial British times.

DAY 2
Shimla – Sarhan

Post breakfast , we will begin our journey to Sarhan from Shimla. Crossing the Wangtu bridge, we expect to reach Sarhan before nightfall, for night stay. If time permits we might also be able to enjoy the views of the Sarhan Bird Sanctuary and Bhim Kali temple.Spiti trip

DAY 3 and 4
Sarhan – Sangla

Two whole days in Sangla, give us the chance to drink in the sights of the city, view the simplicity of village life, explore nature trails and apple orchards. What a better way to relax than a stroll to the riverside and tiny rivulets. This stay will be helping us acclimatize ourselves for the upcoming higher altitudes

DAY 5
Sangla – Kalpa

Famous for magnificent meadows and wonderful apple orchards, we visit Kalpa village. Here we encounter Reckong Peo, a modest town, the district headquarters of Kinnaur district , from where we commence most of the journeys into the amazing Spiti Valley. A romantic getaway, our hotel welcomes you here as you find yourself between apple and cherry orchards.

DAY 6
Kalpa – Tabo

The next place to visit is the beautiful Tabo monastery with a history of about 1000 years. It is amongst the oldest Buddhist monasteries in the world. Known for its artifacts and Thanka paintings, here you will come across the famous pillar of a thousand Buddhas. Recognised by UNESCO as a world heritage site, the entrance speaks volumes with its earthen walls, and frescoes. The entire complex occupies around 6300 sq.kms. You will witness the different stages in Buddha’s life in the paintings here along with Jataka tales in Tibetan style. Later, we visit the spiritualized caves within the mountains, used by the monks for their soul searching and meditation. A visit to Nako lake followed by visit to Giu, with the mummy of a Buddhist monk is on the cards.

DAY 7
Tabo – Dhankar – Pin Valley

We commence this day by driving to Dhankar lake., which is the old capital of Spiti, while it was ruled by kings. We find the ruins of a 16th century monastery and an ancient castle. On the top of a mountain, we find the actual town, which overlooks the entire valley. A walk of about 90 minutes and we reach Dhankar lake, and Pin Valley with wondrous streams and beautiful birds and animals.

DAY 8
Pin – Langza – Hikkim – Komic – Kaza

As we approach Kaza, which is the capital of Spit, we pass through Langza, Hikkim and Koumik,. Koumik has the deposits of old fossils as its primary attraction in the Langthis Natura Fossil Center. From there, we go to the Komik monastery, the highest in the world and another monastery destroyed in 1975 by the earthquake, near Hikkim.

DAY 9
Kaza – Ki – Kibber – Chandratal

We drive on Kibber road, today, to visit Ki monastery. This monastery belongs to the Gelupga Sect of Tibetan Buddhism and is located at an altitude of 4120 meters. We will spend our time exploring the paintings and ancient manuscripts before driving towards Kibber village, the biggest in this region of Lahaul-Spiti. This place is a feast for lovers of the wildlife. As the sun sets, we will reach Chandratal lake to enjoy the view of the reflection of the sun in the quiet waters. We spend the night in campsite.

DAY 10
Chandratal – Manali

A 7-9 hour drive marks our arrival in Manali. We encounter various places such as Batal, Chotta Darrah, Gramphu and the famous Rohtang Pass. Famous as being the highest motor vehicle passes in India, it is also very scenic. As we approach Manali, by evening, we will spend our time resting and taking long walks in the forest areas around

DAY 11
Manali

Our last day in Manali will be spent mostly walking in this marvelous town and shopping in the local bazaars. You might also want to visit the temple of the first human( according to Hindu mythology)- Manu temple and also Hidimba temple. But you must not miss out the hot water springs of Vashistha Kunda , for the perfect way to mark the end of our journey, paddling in the warm springs.
